Blue

blue is his favorite color
and now he is gone
it was something we both agreed upon

He said "it was always about you"
I sat there silently and listened
as he blamed me for things
that went wrong in his life

He said "even if you hate me"
I asked him to stop saying those words
I told him the truth of the matter
and then we came to an impasse.

"What is best for you?" I asked
one of two things
"Will you be my friend?" I asked
We parted teary eyed.

Blue is his favorite color
and now he is gone
we said that we will still be friends
it is something we both agreed upon

Funny after you stay friends that the other person acts like there was never a relationship at all. I experienced this and would cry silently at home in my bed, wishing for the past to return.

It's sad. To me, it's that whole thing about when guys say "we can still be friends" but it does not happen to the dismay of the brokenhearted.

Yes a nice study of that dread condition 'we can still be friends' told without frills but with evident passion.
