The Benefits of Keeping A Journal
I have been keeping a journal for as long as I can remember. I think since the sixth grade. I write in it daily. Keeping a journal can be very beneficial to some people.
Webster’s Dictionary defines a journal as, a diary or personal daily record of observations and experiences.
I have found that keeping a journal, is a great stress relief. I can not always say what I am feeling. But, it is easy for me to write my feelings down on paper. This helps me keep my stress level at bay.
Keeping a journal is also a good way to express yourself. For instance, I love to write but, sometimes I find it hard to let other people read what I write. Especially with my poetry. Almost all of my poetry is written in my journal, because that is my private book of thoughts. No one else sees it. A good friend of mine is an artist. Instead of writing in his journal, he draws or sketches in it every day. This is also a great way to express your self.
School teachers, are now making their students keep a daily journal. Teachers can see the benefits of keeping a journal, in a young persons life. They feel it is good for students get their thoughts out in the open. This also teaches good writing techniques and grammar usage.
Your journal should be private. This is your place to relieve stress and express your self. You should never lie to your journal. This defeats the purpose. Write down what you feel.
I hope that all that I have mentioned, might help you at least think about keeping a journal. You may just find out that you enjoy is as much as I do.
Good luck on finding the perfect journal or diary. There are many to choose from. I’m sure you will find what you are looking for. And, soon you will be expressing your self every day.

| Interested to hear your approach. I think there are variations as well like mine where I write stream of conscious stuff straight out, then review an entry after a few weeks to try to see where Im going with it. You raise some good points here. |
