. . . Make It Rain . . .

so i look like a dirty hippy.

get the fuck over it.

no, thats not weed an picholli oil you smell. it's cigarettes an jack daniels.

yes, i am aware that i bear some resemblance to the comedian carrottop. no, i do not find him funny. and no, i have not heard an original comment about it since i was five years old.

im not gonna dye my hair so i can look like some scene kid. that's not me.

im not goin to cut my hair so i can look like some dumb jock. i hate sports.

professional sports today is the equivalent of the gladiator games in ancient rome. it's a distraction for the ignorant masses while the government takes the few remaining freedoms we have an institutes marshal law under the guise of homeland security.

im not a vegetarian.

i have no problem with vegetarians. unless they decide to come down on me for eating meat. i like the taste of meat. it appeals to my more basic instincts. giving me a 10 minute, self righteous lecture on the wrongs of eating the flesh of another creature is not going to erase thousands of years of evolving as a predatory species.

i have no problem with faith an spirituality.

i DO have a problem with organized religion. the greatest atrocities in human history were commited in the name of god.

there is a difference between being ignorant an stupid. ignorance is not having the knowledge. stupidity is not having the capability to attain the knowledge.

the human race is stupid.

i think there is an evolutionary difference between an individual who is open minded an that of a person who doesnt want to see things from a different perspective.

there is a difference between the law an justice. they are often polar opposites.

there is a difference between being liberal an being open minded. i know jus as many close minded liberals as i do close minded conservatives.

i did not vote for bush. i did not vote for kerry. i don't feel i should be a slave for a two party system. i did vote. because some small shread of me still has faith that the "system" may work. i appear to be doomed as an idealist.

i am an insomniac.

i don't sleep.

no, it's is not because i party out of control. no, it's not because the night life in minnesota is so stimulating. no, it's not some way of rebeling against society.

i can't sleep because i don't trust you. i can't sleep because i don't trust me. i cant sleep because i have a guitly conscience. i can't sleep because in my head, i weep for my generation.

i weep for the fate society has cursed us too. i weep for future generations. i weep for those who are truly individual but don't have the courage or know-how to stand up to their opressors. i weep for my friends. i weep for my little brothers. i weep for my little sister. an one day i will weep for my children.

i continually lose may faith in humanity. the fact that, every now an then, it grows back astonishes me. human beings have been at the top of the food chain for far too long. every species can smell it's own extinction. an this place wreaks.

What poet wasn't a pessimist. Half the human race should be pitied, and the other half despised. I dont know where the line between them starts. You are right on track bro. Don't just waste away on paper though. And if you choose to do so, let the world know!!

This piece kept me hooked to the end. It's a very dark, pessimistic view on things but it's absolutly true.

This is the Cass Manifesto! I understand how you feel and have felt that way for most of my life as well. James is right that we have to learn how to accept it. Not an easy thing to do, and I spend a lot of time feeling indignant. And then, as James said, someone does something nice with no ulterior motives and the sun comes out.

I noticed a couple of typos: picholli is "pathchouli" and wreaks is "reeks".

Cass, you're far too young to be so pessimistic. I'm far too young to be so pessimistic. But I found myself agreeing with many of your observations and sentiments nevertheless. Maybe we humans expect too much of everyone else. We are, afterall, ego driving beings trying to force our ideas of right and wrong onto an increasingly apathetic world. The fact that other beings don't act the way we want them to is neither good nor bad. It just is. I think the sooner we accept that, the easier it is to go on. And then like you said, every once in a while someone does something that really makes you step back and think and maybe gives you a reason to go on. I live for those moments.
