The Great Genocides"Christopher Columbus"
The American founder is a fraud! Christopher Columbus a sailor who spent most his life studying books and trying to get approval to do the dirty work of enslavement and genocide for European empires. Christopher Columbus was born in 1451 Genoa, Italy. He had 3 brothers. Christopher Columbus was a colonizer, navigator, and explorer who were involved in the Spanish colonization of North and South Americas. His family was in the weaving and map making business. One day young Columbus had an idea that he wanted to find a quick route to Asia going west. Now to be a sailor you have to have an education. Like how to navigate the stars using math and a good sense of direction. He only knew how to read and write. The minimum amount of education needed to be a leader of three ships with a total crew of 90 men. My guess is that there were individual captains on each ship leading Columbus instead of himself doing all the work. One of his brothers told him that his idea was preposterous and that he sail right off the Earth. In those times it was believed that the world was flat. Now Christopher Columbus was Italian. How come he did not ask the king of Italy for ships and a crew? He asked the kings of England and France too. They all turned him down because they thought his theory was un-accomplishable and that he would fall off the world. Also another reason is that all the kings were prejudice. No king would ever appoint another man of trade if that man was not from his country. So after being turned down. He asked the King and Queen of Spain. For Eight years they turned down his offer of finding a new world and claiming it for Spain. Queen Isabella the Spanish queen took up Columbus’ offer before her husband (Columbus 3). The monarchy of Spain had no interest in new land or finding a quicker way to Asia. According to the contract that Columbus made with the King and Queen of Spain, any islands or main land that he found would be claimed for Spain and he would get many high awards. Awards that were of minimum in value to finding an island or main land and not claiming it for himself. The Spanish Monarchy was ripping him off. “The power rank he was given was Admiral of the Ocean Sea and Governor of the lands he found” (Columbus 3). It’s said he was entitled to 10 percent of the revenues of land that he found. This entitlement was later on denied even though it was one of his demands stated when he went on his voyages. The King and Queen only wanted the discovery of gold. Spain needed gold to become more of a powerful empire. During the time Spain was in a war with its neighbor Portugal. So they needed money for funds. What better than to send an ambitious sailor with fanatical ideas to find gold. They did not care if Columbus found a quicker way west to India, as long as he did not come back empty handed. He would be recognized as a hero of Italy and Spain if he brought back riches. Here is an old poem from Columbus Day “Parade event In 1492 Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue he took three ships with him too and called aboard his faithful crew. Might Strong and brave was he as he sailed across the open sea some people still though the world was flat. Can you imagine that?” (Columbus 2).
Christopher Columbus claims he was the first to set foot on American soil. In history the implication on his first voyage was in 1492, but he did not reach North America till the year 1498. But it’s true for a fact that the Vikings came to North America first. They thought they found an island, so they turned there ships and went back home. There were remains of Viking material, such as stone homes, fire places with chicken bones, swords and helmets. But what is a founder of North America who met face to face with the inhabitants. The first land sighting was not North America. It was an island in the Caribbean Sea. He claimed the island for Spain and named it San Salvador. It was the first piece of land discovered after ninety days out at sea. When they docked the island they met face to face with the natives of the island. The Indians greeted him with respect and kindness. They gave gifts to him that would have been valuable to them. After their showcase of naïve and unaware gratitude his response was that he demanded gold. He did this to every island he discovered in the Caribbean. But when there was no gold to be found he took to enslaving the native people. He first sent a ship back with ten natives from the island. The ten natives were gifts for the King and Queen. Then he took over a mass military project on enslaving the islanders. One island that he enslaved really hard was Haiti. When he got there he demanded gold, when there was no gold he took 500 men, women, and children and sent them to Spain. 200 of the enslaved died on the voyage (Genocide 1). That’s indication that he not only wanted to find land. He was bent on having power and possibly becoming supremacy in a Spanish rank. Now this was never mentioned in his glorified articles of his travels of the world. It was sure that they island of Haiti had a population of ten thousand Indians. While he transported the Haitian Indians from the island to Spain. He had the Indians in mines looking for gold. He had them working aiminously. Indians were dying from exhaustion, disease, hunger, and failure to be pro-creative. That is Genocide. He killed Indians after they showed respect and kindness. He took advantage of them so he could get what he wanted.
Columbus did his fair share of killing the Native Americans with his power. But the true reason why he was a killer is that his crew of men on the three ships. Some men on the crew had diseases and other sicknesses. The Native American at this time period has never faced the type of illness that Europeans had. In some cases men raped the native women. Most of the men were sick on the many days out at sea. The introduction of new diseases came to the Americas by the Spanish explorers. The Indians Immune system could not handle the diseases because they never were experienced which made them an easy target for death. Many were dying at a fast rate due to smallpox. This goes to the term guns, germs, and steel. Europeans had far advanced technology then the Indians using their guns against them. The earliest form of biological warfare was the unfortunate spreading of the diseases, and the swords that many Indians have died by in battle. The three tools of global excavation! “Digging the Native Americans deeper into a depressed society of on-going hatred.” (American Indian Killer 2).
Are these good enough reasons why a person would be against Columbus Day and Columbus Day parades? Look what the man stands for. He did not come to spread Christianity or find a new world for more of the land stealing Europeans. He came to get recognition for possessions he stole. What makes this situation bad is that Colorado was the first state to legalize the holiday back in 1907. Colorado has a high population of Native Americans. Why would this Legalization happen in Colorado of all places, when the states rural population at the time was Indian? To anger the Indians probably. Also in 1907 Colorado was a Klan’s state which may be a prime reason. Columbus was the first Trans- Atlantic Slave trader before the African slave trade (Columbus 8). “To Celebrate Columbus is as a Native American noted, the same as having Jews celebrate Hitler and the holocaust. Columbus is more than a representation of evil, he is the very embodiment” (American Indian Killer 2). America idolizes a historical figure whose reputation and glorification has been covered up to show America was stolen from the natives and that the Indians are the true killers. Dirty, Wild, Savages is what stereotype of Old Wild West movies depicted of them. Glen Morris a Columbus Day activist is hell bent on fighting in the courts to get rid of the Columbus Day Parade. In one of the many court room sessions he said “It’s like being a prisoner on your own land (reservations).”(American Indian Killer 3) This is how it works we colonize someone else’s land and make them live on a small portion in a dreadful dessert that’s worth nothing; sea to shining sea was once theirs. This holiday and parade is like rubbing salt into their wounds. Lemon juice and Razor blades for torture! Injustice to the full extent of disrespect to their ancestors who suffered years of oppression! Glen Morris fights in the courts every year and he is always at a Columbus Day event and parade to protest the inhumanity. He’s been fighting in this case for a very long time. The thought of honoring his ancestors by getting rid of Columbus Day is his motivation. Disrespecting the holiday by interrupting the parades and posing protest every year is a great way to honor a murderer until he is honored no more.
Pick any historical figure in America or having to do with America. There is a problem with them that people would not agree with today. History is covered up. One no will really know the truth until it’s brought to the surface from those who know what really happened. In covering up true history it shields our knowledge of knowing what really happened just to further more glorify the evils hidden. In Christopher Columbus’s portraits he’s seen as a brave sailor holding a flag in the sand and sword in the other hand as he and his crew embark on a journey into an island’s jungle. More to it then that! Christopher Columbus was involved in the killings of a thousand Native Americans. That’s mediocre to the holocaust and what the Nazi’s did. How come there was so much concern when Jews were being murdered like Livestock, but the Native Americans land was being stolen, died in massacres of unfair battles where bow and arrows versus riffles and muskets, became ill of foreign germs with no cures to help themselves, generations of inbreeding and rapes with European explorers, and the ever so dwindling native American population in the states and South America where they used to be very common. This is one of the many genocide crimes committed by human beings in our time on this planet. 500 years before a mass genocide (Holocaust) that the people start to know the truth of much other genocide and some that are still unknown of.
