“Number 5”
Yellow Number 5 is coursing through my veins
So is Red Number 40
I ate some fish from Fred Meyers
And got more than my list requires.
“Student Loans”
Student loans
Student loads
I call it studebt
The red wavy line accentuates how wrong it is
To take the easy money now, only to pay later.
Poetry
The shortest form of the artist’s written word.
Poetry.
“Lend me a Tune”
The disk was scratched when I gave it back to her
I had heard, but not listened.
My apology wasn’t heartfelt -
Loaned music
Is there any other kind?
“Thirty”
ten minutes goes by
and then another ten
pretty soon it's been
half an hour on the fly
Love
New love is delicate
its like a fancy cake in the oven
don't jump around in the kitchen while its still rising
Abysmal
Abyss
Why is it the abyss is considered a bad thing?
Merely depths
Deeper than anyone has seen and told the tale
The abyss draws me inward
My inner depths covered with seaweed jungles
Then deeper into nothingness I sink, light fades away
Though I sought to make my living in the sea and within ocean’s depths
Little did I know I had not found the perfect place to live
But the perfect place to live forever
I rehydrate my kelp salad thinking these thoughts of my own salt mixing with that eternal silence
She wouldn’t visit me anyway, but now she won’t be able to find me down here
I pour in more water and it just soaks it up
“add water to cover” the directions say
I keep filling
Until eventually I get to my own depths
I belong to the depths
Training a Polar Bear with a Broomstick
“You have to hit it close to the eyes.”
There was something obviously wrong with the approach,
This animal trainer is crazy, I was thinking.
He wanted me to use the metal threaded end too,
I wasn’t satisfied with the method.
I don’t think I was getting through to the bear either.
and then I went to the mall,
I needed to shop for new pants, and maybe shoes, and .50 cal bullets
When i got back to the animal trainer place,
the guy was campaigning for political reasons,
So when I looked in the box where the bear was,
… it was emaciated since he hadn't fed it in the months I was at the mall.
M-aaa
sometimes, i have to just say
m-aaa
not quite an affirmation of like
something so stern as "The lord is my shepherd, and I shall not want…”
but a little softer than that.
