Come in Houston
Airplane flight, escaping this place
Finding, longing to be in arms embrace soon
Delay of thirty minutes, anxiously waiting
Sleep comes lightly
Aloft
Turbulance rocks, the plane pitches
A lady gasps and worried look is in her eyes
Glad I ate before take off but hunger comes
A snack of trail mix and crackers
A sprite to settle the stomach
I doze again
The feeling of a full bladder needing emptied
Seatbelt light is blaring at me to stay seated
Moments later, I go back anyway
Such a wonderful feeling of relief
Stewardess glares at me, I return to my seat
yawn escapes, reminder of lack of sleep
Too excited the night before
Now hours before I finally see you
Remembering the first time I used a webcam
Was with you
How I tried to keep looking into the camera
Tried to imagine your face there watching me
Perhaps thirty minutes to go now my love
The little brat behind me kicking my seat
Kick, kick, squawl and whaling loudly
Newly waking from a nap, her face red and angry
Mother losing patience, vain attempt to comfort
Father ignores her, doting on his son
My ears fill with pressure as we decend
I thank god for this, drowning out the drama
Ground seen from high above
Rivers like thin snakes interrupt land mass
Broken like puzzle pieces of different colors
Bordered by highways and tree lines
pilot tells me we are minutes from landing
My stomach in knots at the thought of finally
Finally your face, finally your arms, finally your kiss
Face smiles broadly as thoughts race through mind
Tops of trees, lush forest greeen and full
Houses roofs, cars driving past oblivious to us
Bell rings, "Seatbelts fastened please"
Descending----
Ground advancing closer, closer now
Touchdown!
