Super-fuel

Shaw: I was out diving this morning, found something real unusual like. Think it could be important. I've been quarantined since I got back to shore. Two others have died. Don't know what it was but I'm okay.
Diplomat: The Police say you found something that we haven't yet assessed. It may be a new element. It could be of scientific importance. Do you have a science background?
Shaw: Well, don't know much about anything really. Do you think that it's really that important?
Diplomat: Well, it appears to be likely to be one of the most important scientific findings of the year, possibly the decade. There is, of course, concern for you, especially as, you have been made aware, that the two other divers have died. You had been informed, sorry.
Shaw: Yes, I feel fine. Haven't felt better. Presumably what we found was radioactive or something like that. The others never stopped throwing up as soon as we hit the surface. They looked ill from the moment they came up.
Diplomat: It does appear to have some similarities with radioactive poisoning. There may be some nuclear capability in Belize if this is the case. Do you know what that will invovle if this is a substance within the waters of the nation?
Shaw: Well, that's nothing to do with us is it?
Diplomat: Well, I don't think you need to feel responsible for the implications of what happened yesterday. You were just on a tour dive, you didn't do anything wrong as such. You're aware what looks like might happen.
Shaw: Well, if the nuclear capability develops it isn't anything other than a matter for Belize politicians to decide upon is it?
Diplomat: Definately. It is their decision and we support Commonwealth nations over these matters. It will be a primary concern for the UK government.
Shaw: Does anyone have any idea why I'm okay and
Diplomat: From what we have been told so far either you managed to avoid being subject to the radiation or you have some form of immunity to it. You were aware of this weren't you. Did the medics who took DNA samples inform you what they thought might be going on? You might be in a position to make a valuable contribution to mankind. This does seem interesting.
Shaw: Well, if I can do that by sitting on my backside and lying here in this hospital then that's fine.
Diplomat: You seem to be taking this very well. Don't you have any concern for the negative impacts of what has gone on so far.
Shaw: Like you said, it was a tour dive and there were a couple of people who died from radiation poisoning. There haven't been any nuclear subs in the area that dropped something they shouldn't have?

To be completed soonish....
