The Good Life

There is corn in the fields
Fish in the burn
Whiskey on the table
And a sweet colleen by my side

Oh, take me back to Ireland
That's where my heart belongs

Wishful thinking, yeah, but you executed everything we are all out to achieve in our own way through this poem. I love your efficacious style. Very inspiring. Now get out there & get that sweet colleen & whiskey, Irish or not!
Best, Bebe

You don't have to be Irish if you have whiskey on the table and a colleen by your side! And can write simple, strong words like you have. Well done.

I think they should grant you honorary citizenship of the Republic of Ireland based on your merits here! LOL It might be a good move as writers and artists get to live there tax free! At first I thought we were having a night for pastiche following on my contribution. It brought to mind the opening line of "Song of the Baker" by Small Faces "Theres wheat in the fields ..." but oddly enough a similar melancholy expressed here. Do you know the song?

I am not Irish nor have I been to Ireland but when I thought about what would constitute the good life for me, this is what came to my mind. Wishful thinking, yes, but what more can a man ask for?
