Lil Kai's big adventure
“Oh boy, there is going to be rumble in the jungle!” chirped George as he swung from branch to branch.
“What’s all this hooting about, can’t an owl get some sleep before the sun sets!” Owen exclaimed angrily.
“Lil Kai has gone to the falls alone!” George Yelled.
“What do you mean alone?” Anthony Tapir interrupted.
“He and the other children have gone to the falls without any elders.”
“Well, we better go and look for them.” added Kamudi.
“Yes, Nicolas is hungry and there is nothing more delicious than young children to that hungry feline!” Owen concluded.
George being the swiftest of the forest animal swung from branch to branch in search of Lil Kai and his entourage. It was near noon when he spotted Cougar heading the group. George was about to leave and report to the other, when suddenly a loud growl was heard. It sent all the forest animals scattering in search of a hiding place.
“Oh Cougar darling, it is so great of you to bring me brunch!” Nicholas growled.
“They’re nobody’s meal Nicolas, go your way we have a long journey.” Cougar replied graciously.
Nicolas sprang out at Cougar and the boys ran for shelter in the nearby trees, hoping that the jaguar was not a good climber. George hurried back to inform the others.
Anthony trotted breathlessly in search of Kamudi to convey the news.
“Kamudi,” Anthony bellowed breathlessly.
“Don’t you know it is rude to interrupt, when I am feasting?”
“There is big trouble, Nicolas is attacking Cougar, and the children are scattered.” Anthony shouted between breaths.
“Well, why you didn’t say that before, let’s go.”
Kamudi slithered as fast as he could and found Nicolas savaging Cougar. He quickly constricted himself around Nicolas whiles squeezing him as hard as possible.
“Get off of me you stupid serpent!” Nicolas growled.
“Corrections my feline aggressor, I am a snake not a serpent and a hungry one at that.” Kamudi replied as he strengthened his coiling onto the ribs of Nicolas.
Nicolas fell to the ground feeling exhausted and angry growling of revenge.
Quickly the boys gathered branches to shelter Cougar who lay injured and distraught; unable to continue the journey. Placing some fruits beside her, they bid her goodbye then continued on their journey.
The boys walked for what seemed like for ever. Then in the clearings they saw a beautiful deer. Lil Kai walked swiftly to greet the deer.
“I am Lil Kai, my friends and I are lost. We are looking for the great falls, can you guide us?” He pleaded.
Cervinea the deer was delighted she was on her way to the other side of the Potaro and was glad for the company. Happily she joined the group and begun leading the way.
A loud melodious roar was heard, their hearts jumped for joy. It was the Potaro River cascading over a smooth escarpment; forming the world’s longest single drop water fall, known as Kaieture falls.
Looking up in amazement at the majestic site, which stood high above them as if kissing the heaven, the boys felt happy to view the cemented rainbow which the falls made.
Cervinea called out to Chelonia, a great large leatherback turtle who happily agreed to ferry the boys on her back to the other side of the river.
On the back of Chelonia, Lil Kai and his friends cruise the Potaro, bathing in the sweet rainbow colored mist. Their journey was over at last. Now, they only had to find home before any other villain found them.
