the terser rhymer

everyone is copying carcinomA
caught here on some epochal tidal ebB
we burn coffee beans to dull the aromA

floating in some informational weB
that seeks to make us a hypochondriaC
relying on drugs: some useless junkie pleB

i don't want to be a prozac maniaC
death sponsored by a state that wants me deaD
so i sit here plotting like a braniaC

working out how i can rewire my heaD
finding utopia and getting therE
and never once dropping the causal threaD

but i spoke too soon: my plans laid barE
have doomed me to life this idiot snarE

I like how you literally kept to the rhyme scheme... taking the box your given and finding a way to stand outside it... excellent my man...

I like it. A lot. Not sure so much about the metre (iambic pentameter as stated in the requirements). I did try quite hard to squeeze it into the metrical pattern but I think it did fail ina few spots.

However. Ooo I don't know whether to feel honoured or silly that you followed the A B A rhyme scheme so literally - lolololol.

Great poem.

There is a kind of modern genius to your work that always makes me feel a little in awe when I read it because I know that your style is your own and I would be a fool to try and change or even critique it.

This is very clever. Wouldn't be surprise to see you wandering about the short list. The rhyme scheme fits perfectly. Nice choice of wording to finalize your PUN. Janet
