Cross of despair

there is no credence
in the cross, lord

this crude stanchion
of your
brute passion

a prop
no less
consecrated
for form
and ritual

flaunted without
in dark
admonition

i crave
your resurrection
in my heart

Some very powerfully distilled feelings into a few well chosen words.

This shows how pointless crucifixions were. You displayed a sweet yearning for a little more grace and faith in only a few words. well done

Thanks June. Your comment gives me the courage and the encouragement to keep on writing. This poem is part of a book I am working on. there is another posting in here called, 'looking for the man' I would love to know what you think of that.
