Plea for Freedom

There is none like you here the only one I see
though you are just the one by you I am not seen
and I am in the dark where I have always been
and now I strike the match so that light may be
so here is a poor man who would like to be free
my chain's keys in your hands can I be now serene
so can you allow this can it be here my queen
a matter so simple can you give this to me

The keys the keys madame I seem them in your hands
please unlock the chains now I do not wish to suffer
to great is the pain now please just loosen the chain
if you could just do that I could fall to the sands
please can you just do it little more I can endure
so can it be taken can you remove the pain

I have here an actual Italian style sonnet. I want to know if there is something I was missing in trying to use Alexandrine meter. Though English isn't sylablle timed, I want to know how well Syllabic verse works or at least how well this works even if I can't pull Syllabic verse off in this language...
