Keys (Karen's Wee Challenge #34)

Three keys. First, don’t fall in love. Second, don’t get pregnant. Third, don’t tell anybody. No juicier gossip than an affair.

God, if anyone knew about you and that man. Don’t you dare tell me who he is. Even me. That’d break rule three.

And don’t you break the first two, either. Take it from me. I broke the first two with your father. When you came along, it was all I could do to keep quiet. No sense in ruining two marriages over it.

Your real daddy, the one who raised you, he knew. He stuck with me after that, no questions asked… bless his soul. I loved him, too... so much. There's all kinds of love.

Thank you. I've been taking a long break from writing and this was a fun contest for me.

Good stuff, Bill - and an original take on 'Keys'.

Thanks for the read.

Cheers

I didn't read this before the edits, but the story as it stands now is great. I can really imagine a mother warning her daughter about life by telling her these rules.
