WEE CHALLENGE #34 - KEYS
Dave’s phone twittered, “Hey, darlin’, I’ve been worried. What’s for dinner?”
“I’ll bet. I’m not at your beck and call any more. We’re done.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Everything is finally right. I’m sick and—.”
“You can’t do this to me; I’m calling the lawyer!”
“Too late; the divorce papers are on your pillow. And don’t write any checks till you balance the checkbook.”
“I’ll come get you. We can work things out.”
“There’s nothing to work out, Dave. I’m tired of giving and getting nothing back. My lawyer will handle everything. There is one thing you can do?”
“What?”
“Get a life. I have.”
“CLICK.”
Sylvia tossed her cell into the surf. Leaning back in her chaise-longue, she savored the glorious sunset over the Keys.

Thanks, Karen. I'd love to expand it now that the thought is on paper so to speak. Thanks for commenting. Janet

Hi Janet
I'm not so sure about this one - the opening just seemed so abrupt. I think that's whya couple of reviewers have felt it's forced.
I like the idea, like the 'keys', but I think you need more than the given word count to get this one across effectively.
Thanks for the read.
Cheers

Free at last, free at last! And tossing the phone into the surf was the final disconnect. There's a nice, easy flow to it, Janet. Good read.

Thanks, Anna, sometimes I wish I had. Life would probably have been a lot simplier without the abuse, but it's hard to say. It's a safe bet, we can't go back and change it, so I just keep going--like the pink bunny with Everready batteries. LOL Janet
