Ignorance
Despite all the crap they have stuck to them, humans have one truly magnificent beauty. They are completely and utterly ignorant to the feelings around them. If a person feels hurt, endangered, or awkward, other people have no earthly idea what is going on. We don't empathize, only sympathize. We have to be told how someone is feeling, we can't accurately intuit it on our own.
Oh, yes, there are signs of dejection, or of joy. But even these can be misleading. More often then not, humans find themselves wandering off or acting lonely just to get attention. And they're encouraged in this behavior, because we are too ignorant to see what's going through their heads.
So what are we left with? A boy sits on a bus and has huge feelings for his best friend's girlfriend. He keeps telling himself that he can't have her, and that she's his. But at the same time, that boy wants her, and burns every time he sees them together. When he gets spurned by her, it rankles deep within his heart. When a seat opens up that's not next to him, she moves to it. When everyone leaves the bus, she hugs them, but never, not once, does she think to hug the boy. So he has to endure her, and she remains blissfully oblivious, convincing herself that she's happy with her boyfriend.
At least he can endure. So many brains are snuffed out because of drama like this. All of this, romance and love, is human-created drama. We set the standards for what we want, and we pursue it. Even if we know better than to stick ourselves into the mess that is conversation and interaction, we do it anyways. But its not a bad thing. Humans are social creatures. What's important is to not let it consume you, and not to let ignorance define you.
