Twin Towers on December 8, 2001

2.00 am

Restless as if alive now,
quivering in dismay, still fuming,
crushed one to an ugly dread of iron,
the other standing
like a maid ready to be set ablaze on a shrine of shame
both still protruding pain
and charging with fury
like Achilles
while the purple light
renders their effort painlessly
as on stage.
