love
love can destroy you.
love can make you grab desperately
through nothing
to insist on changing someone.
love can inspire a revolution,
and people get killed in revolutions.
love can get you addicted to feeling up
and then
a carnivorous incident with some other form
can pull you out from under your throne
and force you to stand up
as you beg for the feeling
to return.
love can cause car accidents.
it is dangerous
to love,
and that is why it is brave
to love,
and that is why loving
well
with grace
is as significant an art form
as the Mona Lisa.

Amen. The previous Pope said, "More people are saved through Eros than any other form of love." I thought he was being cheap, sensational, fishing for converts ... then I gave it some thought. Yeah, he was right.
As far as love causing car accidents, I remember driving this big car far too fast across Washington state with this hungry woman ... it's a wonder we didn't kill ourselves or someone else.
Nothing really to criticize here. It all reads like true speech. You've learned the nugget of love.
That's why I care nothing for cynicism, unbelievers, or cold-heartedness ... the real courage is in loving. |
