Just a Word

Lover, just a word
could ease the pain
of my confusion.

Lover, just a laugh,
release the shadow
from my soul.

Lover, should
I see your face,
my song would be ignited.

This heart is bare,
these lyrics nude.
O Lover, won't you
speak... the truth?

Well done! I like this one very much, short but meaningful. O Lover, won't you speak... the truth?

Great poem Matthew. I assume spoken from a songwriter?

"This heart is bare,
these lyrics nude.
O Lover, won't you
speak... the truth?"

I've been pondering how songwriters expose what many of us feel on the inside - they have the courage and skill to put into words and melody - sharing the vulnerability of our hearts.

Thank you,
