This Dance

I've meant to ask you this
for so so long a time
and must do it in rhyme
I say that I love you
and that always I knew
love I wish not to miss

I ask for my fair chance
let this be ours to try
for this I know shaln't die
I wish to show you it
so why don't we do it
and let me have this dance

I was going for five lines of Iambic trimeter and two of dactyllic dimeter. Did I get the meter I was going for strictly?
