Ghazal to My Beloved

What to you can I say, when things are as they are
for this is not my day -- and I could not go far

To you what can be said, for there is none like you
why think this to be read -- for I could not go far

I know that I love you, but that's all I have
advancing I can't do -- and I could not go far

Your presence is sheer glee, it fills my heart with joy
nothings is done by me -- for I could not go far

Though if I could I would, and this might go somewhere
failure is understood -- so I could not go far

The problems: my alexandrine needs work. And I break with tradition on so many levels. Oh well, my beloved wouldn't notice if she ever read it...
