Helen
Helen
written by Glen Yumang Manese
a.k.a. Filipino American Dream
Shall sunrise flare flowers, in destiny
Causing all others to wilt in wonder
Men desire speech, utters silently
Neglects all, but one in such blind blunder
Focus the distance, bordering countries
Wages war to battle, which love defy
Legions of lords call, discuss assemblies
Ships sail, shields of Sparta’s men glorify
Treaties are worthless words of papyrus
Blood shed tears dissipate destruction
Days into many years calls no cease trust
Bury with retreat is restitution
White flags to war fields, Trojan horse stricken
Peace or pride governs no hope with Helen
