How could it end like this?

You came as a fractured sky leaking rain
With a gunmetal smudge for a heart
I offered a concilitory tear
To help the problem part

I held your hand in mine
Talking of hearts turned sour
My reasoning temporalily suspended
As we bypassed forgotton hours

Sunlight came once again
Slowly revealing lightning flashes of regret
Your eyes betrayed the silence
Hoping, praying the future wasn't set

As of then I would not see
The cadaverous fear in your mind
Nor could I hear the acerbic tones
For I was not only deaf, but also blind.

Your secret gradually betrayed itself
With every word you said
I became crippled into despair
The archetypal messed up head

Your voice no more than a brittle whispher
As you uttered those destroying words
Mentally reaching for the mask
Defining it absurd.

Cliched concilations rang in my head
A heart is pierced and destroyed
A product of my own insanity
Your voice no longer fills the void.
