The King Fisher
Events pass above me
below me, through me
but I'm still, untouched.
In fact I don't notice these things
because I'm here to take a fish.
I take things; it's what I do.
I am the smudge on a pristine page,
the killer hidden in the small print.

| Thanks for your comments. I wrote this looking at a photograph of a man fishing, feeling depressed about global warming, seeing us as nasty little monkeys, a malignant mutation in the biosphere that will destroy it. |
