Around 11 PM

Time of death
11 PM
Monday, the 26th

I wouldn't believe it
It couldn't be true
I opened my eyes again

False alarm
The doctor said
It wasn't your time to go

But death was still waiting
She told me herself
Any day soon, I might take you

No, I protested!
You must reconsider!
Surely, I'm not what you need!

I begged and demanded
She held firm her answer
Paranoia had found a new home

Enough with the waiting
Just get it done quick!
NOTHING could be worse than this

Day after day
Afraid for my life
Pleading with death, with all of my might

Taunted and tortured
My mind running wild
But then it began to make sense..

I asked death a question
She revealed her secret
This all has been a lie

There never was
A false alarm
You died, 11 PM

Interesting poem about death. I can sense the feeling of paranoia in the writing.
I liked the ending especially, wasn't expecting him to have already died.

This piece captures the frenetic waiting accompanying passing. The irregular structure and rhythm, the aspiration in reading this aloud works well with the message.

Wow - powerful stuff. The ending was great - I didn't see it coming.
