TODAY IV
TODAY IV
(THE MAIDEN OF THE ART OF LOVE)
Today, Today oh Today
Were you not a remnant
Creeping from the last syllable of yesterday
The eyes negotiates for itself
Trusting no mediators
With the drug so effective
With a kiss I die
If music could be the food of love
I’ll turn a musician
I will sing till your appetite is sick and dead
I’d stretch my hand to rip out your heart
In front of you
I shall cut it into halves
Let me write my name on each piece
As the mender puts things together
Let your heart beat rhythm
With the thoughts
Of you in me and me in you
Can I answer your Juliet while you respond to my humble prince?
Yes!
When the hour is done
When the darkness diffused into thin stripes of lightness
And the baby giggles playfully
The crowd surrounding us would disperse
Saying how noble in reason
Is the Maiden of the Art of Love?
