Our fingers are tree trunks
wriggling as squirrels
break their nuts
on wooden knuckles.
Bears bring us warmth
in red rubber boots,
as we sit among
our autumn-shed skin
growing creeping green moss
on our rooted souls.

Fingers being trunks confuses me since it's apparently trees speaking, and I would expect fingers to be branches. Also I didn't get "red rubber boots" but that's probably just me. Other than that I enjoyed reading it.
