Laughter
Letting go of Love
The most painful goodbye yet
Love may be the goal
But the 'need' for it must go
A broken heart must bleed
Surrendering all of me
The life that I know, dies
Once again a question rises
The question: Who am I?
I wait to see what comes
The answer, simply: You are
No bells, no whistles or drums
Dumbfounded but filled with silence
The warm embrace of peace
I laugh and drop my next question
'Where's the rest of what I seek?'
Finally I see
Through years of self-inquiry
Within the question: who am I?
Dwells the king of all absurdities
Simply put.. You are
Nothing else will do
Not 'I am', especially
For one, there is no 'who'
And who would say 'I am'?
It surely wouldn't be me
'I' was laying silently
No sound coming from me
Through 'consciousness' it came
The truth of existence revealed to me
Who am I?, the first question to rise
I laugh because... the joke was on me!
