A Little Problem Along Passion's Path

“He wants us to move where?” Alicia’s blue eyes widened in shock and horror.

“Well, I did warn you that he could be eccentric.” Devon shrugged. He and Marcus had been like brothers since kindergarten, so he would know the man best.

“But, but…” Alicia’s body shook. Whether from rage or fear, Devon couldn’t quite tell.

“I’m sorry.” Devon did not sound apologetic. Maybe this bit of news would finally scare off the piece of fluff. No one would ever be good enough for his best friend.

Alicia's face changed. As her expression shifted to steely resolve, Devon realized he had underestimated her.

“Okay, then,” She looked straight into Devon’s eyes, no trace of doubt, “Akron, Ohio, it is.”

Yay - good for Alicia.

Enjoyed that, Kirsten - great use of dialogue and just the right amount of lightly placed back story (not easy in such a small word count).

Cheers

Karen

yeah i did find myself having to do a bit of re-reading to keep up with it all, but yes i like the layers here.

agree there is a bit of Bromance here between the boys and got a clear picture of the freaky, clingy girlfriend.

if you want an asshole town in Australia, can't go past Gympie.

Okay, I wasn't paying attention to the potential name confusion (Marcie & Marcus are separate people) Thank you, Penguin & Arley. I have changed her name to Alicia. As to the rest...well, relationships CAN get complicated.

True love can handle a move to Akron, heh heh. Like The Penguin I was a mite confused at first but finally sorted it out. Good un', Kirsten!
