Fisticuffs

Tension…
Fills the room
Thick enough to cut with a knife

Glares…
Break the awkward silence
Without uttering an audible word

Fists…
Form on either side
Look to send shocks ‘cross the airwaves

Blows…
Both thrown and landed
Decide the victor and who’s been bested

Game…
Over after its said and done
All take something and leave some behind

Respect…
Earned by all accompanied
By a black eye and a shattered rib

Overall, I like the power and the motion of this piece. You use alliteration to an advantage, as well as sounds within the lines.

I now have the sounds of "Kid Gloves" by RUSH tripping through the sides of my brain. Thanks for that!

My favorite is the second stanza--masterful use of words.
