In Lieu Of
there's something to be
said about cigarettes,
but it's been said before,
I'm sure. So in lieu of
a good write, crafted
thoughtfully between
slow draws in of the
thing that will be my
death, I'll write this.

| This has a really interesting kind of cynicism that, somehow, is not unkind. I imagine you gazing at the smoke and smiling a little before setting pen to paper (or fingers to keys). I adore the last line particularly. |
