When You're Gone

When you’re gone
The air I breathe
Turns harsh
And cold
My frozen lungs
Pain filled
With every
Solitary
Breath
I take

When you're gone
The room and bed
I nest in loom
In darkened
Gloom
The air frigid
And shallow
Frightening me
With hollow
Echoes of
Lonely

When you’re gone
The nights lay
Over me
Heavy
Lifeless
In blackened
Silence
No comfort
To be found
Listening only
To the sound
Of time ticking
Torturously
By

When you’re gone
The world is
Stark
Unkind
Colorless
Blind
Viewed by
Glitter filled
Brittle
Green glass
Cracked and
Fissured
By sorrow

But you’re here
With me now
As I lay warm
In your arms
Holding on
Desperately
Your boyish charms
Sheltering me
From the
Rainstorm
Of tears
Predicted
Tomorrow

When you’re gone …

Its all been said Alicia... the natural you flows from within, reaches out and is heard. Most times I like to hold back, but that doesn't jive with everyone... I love your moves. :)

I like the economy of your words thereby giving prominence to feelings more. Infact I read aloud your poem..and it was intoxicating.I can say that yours is more of Oral poetry. Nice work really. Thanks.

June.

Thank you Renee....it's a reflection that holds strength though, does it not? Sad how we tend to let the good reflections and memories fade, yet the painful wounds we received always seem so current and fresh when you least want them to...
