Pumping
You kicked the cat again last night
After a fourteen hour day
Then I just stopped you
From punching your kid out
Go to the gym, I say
Pick up those weights
Dumbbells ten pounds heavier than yesterday
With all that stored-up anger
You'll pump them just fine
I'll watch your guns swell
Until the veins pop out like ropes
Keep pumping until you cry
Until all the rage rolls out
And you sag to the ground, spent
You'll not mow the lawn today
But at least we'll be safe
