Infidel

I need to wake up,
In this sleep I suffer,
And my drowsy self
Inflicts pain
On those I love,
Who can see my inside,
Awake and free
But confined by the smoke
And dust and fog
That clouds me,
And they remain hopeful
But powerless
To wake me.

I take upon myself
The challenge to fight
This demon that
Pretends to be me.
The light ahead
Creates a new promise
That I shall win.
