Eye of the Storm
I saw You today...
you turned the rice fields into gold...
for a few moments
i glorified you in the silence...
then your wind, which started
as a soft caress,
turned into a gale
you seemed dissatisfied
if you had not completely
ravaged my hair.
your rain brought pain
but i liked it--no,
i enjoyed it deeply
as every sting on my skin
was a declaration of my
existence...
you stayed only for a moment
yet in your wake trees lay
naked and spent on the sides
of mighty mountains that
have no defense against your
rage, your passion, ---
everyone bowed in your presence
crouching at your feet in
your regal aftermath...
yet i smile-- because
for a moment
i claimed the calmness of your heart
and knew that everything
else external to you
is not really You--
the wind, the rain, the
occasional thunder and lightning
are mere armies meant
to instill fear, wreak havoc,
and protect you, your soul...
never again shall i fear you
for you are God,
and today i know,
it was You i saw.
