how it came to this

how it came to this
a few words
chance intersections
look across a room
a touch
a stolen kiss
something we wouldn’t
and couldn’t
thought about it hard
lost some sleep
couldn’t ever happen
now this groping
burning in this crucible
our sweat mixed together
your hair clinging to your neck
my mouth jammed against yours
flesh displayed
steaming sheets
your tongue caressing mine
my scarred rough hands
on your smooth skin
gripping your wrists
your softness held down
in the firmness of my grasp
taking what I want
and what you want
anywhere you want
any way you want it
against the wall
in front of the mirror
rolling on the floor
among scattered bits of clothes
you bring out my beast
make me howl inside
drink you with feral eyes
catch you in wolf’s teeth
pull your hair
not let go
but I won’t hurt you
I know your wildness
needs a man
man enough to let you run
to tear you out of hiding
peel away the burdens
strong enough to hold you lightly
to help you take flight
let you be what you are
go where you need to
find your secret places
listen for your sounds
love you hard
we moan together
wrapped in the lust of it
now we lay panting
dripping and hot
I’ll savor you for hours
long after you’re gone
and dream of this time
volcanic eruption
long after it’s over
you won’t be mine
can’t be mine
it won’t be forever
but it’s for now
and that has to be enough
it has to be
not forever
but I’ll take you here and now
and again if I ever get the chance
