A Sense of Shame Unwinding

Three buffalo nickels
And one place to put them-
A dark oak box that fits nicely between
My thumb and forefinger;
All Deco and engraved and everything,
The perfect fit for three buffalo nickels.
I'll use them singly and unhurriedly
Over the exact course of my lifetime
And when only the circular box remains
I will wait contented, perhaps
And try to understand why
I have been whittled into features.

Sometimes I really do not like your work. This is not one of those times. I'll admit that I was taken back at "singly". I reread it and reread it and then read it aloud. Of course it makes sense. I love when last lines both highlight and define the complexity of meaning. I want to talk about it more but I fear that it would ruin it for me. Obviously your words have made me ramble. Well done.
