Blackbird
Sing me a sun sweet song
glimmer in your diamonds
sun sweet, sweat and toil
your words are like black birds
flying so high that it is hard to see
how truly ugly they are
sing me a sweet song for once, blackbird
when you cannot, that is why I let you fly
How many hands did that cost?
splintered nails and blood loss
such a pretty little rock it is
and nothing says “I love you”
quite like a gem that devours wishes
When you show it to your friends,
think of the children,
how much they would adore you
If they were here for the toast
Alas! Their breath is taken
by the diamond you boast!
Sing for me, blackbird, sun sweating blackbird
how your words turn to echoes upon my ear
how you must have wedding band, and bend the man
to flaunt and adore you, that dare not explore your
cruel and shallow mind!
Blackbird, your song is not so sunny sweet
To my ears. It is but another death thrall,
others may listen to it all,
But in the end, your darkness-drenched skin
Will burn in the sun.
