Excess Baggage
The suction pipe felt strange; no more than a gentle poke, when she had expected an intense, invasive insertion.
"Just look at the bottle, Mrs Jones. Watch that fat gather in the the glass."
She watched as the yellow gloop glugged into the gallon container.
The nurse paused. "We´re going to need another container."
The surgeon frowned. "Erm, better make that two - or maybe three."
Half an hour later, she surveyed the dozen bottles of sunflower and poppy coloured gunge.
"I can´t feel my legs. Do they look thinner?"
The surgeon gulped as he wetted Mrs Jones lips and dabbed the tears from her eyes. The only moisture left in what had been her body

| I would like to say that this piece just reads like fiction, but working on medical admissions, I would say that this piece is nor far off the sheer rawness of what on-take staff have to deal with (me I just chill in the poisons office). A real stomach churning description of adipose tissue with some witty alliteration going on. |
