Artist Unknown

The painting
on the bookshelf
by the windowsill
is a love in paint
and cotton, sand
collecting dust,
a dead truth set in
stretched canvas
and soft brushed
curves of colour.

I like this, makes me feel for what the artist might feel about the work of art he/she has just created. It's absolutely fitting that the artist is anonymous because the canvas is sort of anonymous in that it is a blank soul with splashes of color - probably a good soul because cotton candy pink can't help but put me in a good mood, although there's no doubt some bitterness in there with the rough edges of sand. Really enjoyed the description though - painting, windowsill, bookshelf are all general descriptions for common items but they are very apropriately connected here to this painting, as it seems to have a universal feel to it. Well done.

happy writings.

I like the art, it has an incomplete quality to it as if the monochrome pinkness was just a layer of colour waiting for more details. It's cool.

The poem does carry me into not so much the art, but the physical world the art sits in. It would be like me writing about The Mona Lisa without explaining the age, the fragility or its special environment inside The Louvre. I don't figure it could really be done, nor would a poem do justice to that particular masterpiece.

Anyway, good poem and IMO a good pairing of poem to art. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, do not fear or stop writing poems at the end of the story. I totaly get what you were going for. Not everyone is on the same page... and one must have an open mind to see beyond the horizon. So keep up the good work. You should be proud of what you have accomplished here... you have made people want more... and that, in itself... is a sign of a great artist.
