Regret

I heard their words

Spoken like the whispers of ghosts -

in the forlorn chambers of yesterday

Specters arisen from the depths -

of my subconscious to torment me

And I

Fallen upon deaf ears

My screams piercing only my soul

Not the veil that covers her eyes

Not the steel walls of this prison

None shall see the look on my face

Or read the words on my lips

Those words shooting forth from my mouth-

like the bullets from the chamber of a gun

“I’m sorry” should never be a mantra

Beautiful writing - I think that a lot of people can really relate to the emotion your poem exudes :)
