Going Solo (wee story challenge)
Mom: You were the only guitarist in "Rapier" and did well.
Son: Until Russell got caught writing out seventy-five bogus voting ballots at the Battle of the Bands.
Mom: “Necromancer” had a good following.
Son: Yeah, the drummer and singer paid off the fans with cocaine and pot to show up at gigs.
Mom: What about “Hell Society”? Those songs sounded good.
Son: Until the singer sounded like he had nodes on his vocal chords and I found out the keyboard player suffered from stage fright.
Mom: Why don’t you go solo? You can play all the instruments and composed most of the songs in the bands.
Son: It takes money. Are you going to help me out with the cost of the instruments needed to do that?
Mom: If it eliminates stress and makes you happy.
Next Day:
Mom: What’s the interest on a second thirty-year mortgage?

Janyce, you deliver the most realistic scenes. You're the queen of flash autobiography.
I like the script format. Although, if you DID do it straight prose/dialogue, you'd have all kinds of words left over to play with ... |

| Again the 'Mom', 'Son' thing distracts me... Is this what happened after your sons last festival gig. I'd say stick it out with the band unless people are crying for him to 'Go Solo'.... :) |

| Sounds like mom should get a writing credit for 'underwriting.' Great story, Janyce. The things we do to help our children. The older they get, the more expensive. |

:-)!!!
It seems that being independent of others always has a cost (dollar-wise), regardless of where one wants to build a reputation - just that some are more expesive than others!
A universal in this one! |
