Remember The Alamo (A Fine Line/Karjon 42)
The Mexican carrying a white flag reined his horse and opened a scroll. "Presidente Generalissimo Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna demands unconditional surrender, or every man, woman, and child within the garrison will be shot."
Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and William Travis conferred for a few moments before the colonel drew his sword and scribed a line in the sand. Travis held his head high, pointing his blade at the sandy incision.
"We won't be receiving any reinforcements, men. Those of you willing to stay and fight and die with the honor of defending Texas, cross this line and stand by me. Those of you who wish to leave may do so, without shame or disgrace."
I looked up at the smiling Texas sky, wiping my eyes, silently praying for a miracle as I took my place beside my commander.
