Someday
Though fate decreed that you and I should meet
Where chance did place me lying at your feet
And you and I had recognised ourselves
So soul to soul recumbent here could lie
In stolen moments wrestled from the world
Of men and women, loving for a time.
So short the hours we spend in each our arms
That I have thought a better time might come
So hopeless seems our love as years go by,
Yet nearer to that time when we may be
Once more together, but in legal harmony
When you might have my babies, yet maybe
That fate has other plans for you and me;
For souls, until they shine, are He or She
And chance determines which of which shall be,
So when we meet again on future shores
Today you might have had my babies,
Tomorrow, it may be, I shall have yours.
