A Proud Parent

My child, my child
From your birth
That miraculous day you
Entered this Earth

From screams of pain
To tears of joy
There you are
My beautiful baby boy

From the moment I saw that little face
Your smile a warm embrace

You are a gift to me
From the one on high
I will do my best as I write this
Not to cry

It is truly amazing baby
Now I see
Me in you
Some essence of immortality

I owe you all
I pray that I never fall
Down on my duty to you
On me you can always call

Let it be known
From the pit to the throne

It is a privilege to be your father

Thank you,

My son is about to be 4 and each day I learn more about life through teaching him. Thank you for the positive words.

I felt the same way when my son was born and the same way although he's in his thirties now. I like the rhyme pattern.
