Witness
Spoken through the mists of time
These words are filled with truth
The most important things you know
You learned while in your youth
And even should you not have learned
While in your early days
These words bear truth to your heart
With every turning page
Now every line of every verse
Witnesses to you
And burns a memory in your heart
That these words are true
The prophets spoke of a Man
Who would be more by far
Than any other man who lived
Beneath the earth’s great star
He healed the sick and the lame
The blind He caused to see
He turned the water into wine
He calmed the raging sea
His other sheep He visited
And taught them of His way
That they might too, return to Him
Before the judgment day
Mercy, love, and tenderness
Describe this Man of old
Who suffered in Gethsemane
To bring us to His fold
Judged of man, and found of crime
That He did not commit
Beaten, mocked, and spit upon
He humbly did submit
This perfect Man who never sinned
They did crucify
They pierced His hands and His side
Then left Him there to die
Hung high upon a cross of wood
For all the world to view
They mocked the Lord; the Son of God
Who only did them good
Buried in a tomb of stone
His body they did lay
Then resurrection came to Him
When three days passed away
Now His story’s written in
Books all around the world
To witness of His love of man
To bring them to His word
