Where I left my Heart
She looked across the vast metropolis and ignored the sweet words of her lover. Something more had caught her attention, something she only heard Robert Frost say. She told her love to wait.
She let her phone fall to her side and she saw it. The most placid moment of her day that she never usually saw: the sunrise.
She saw it rise slowly over the Golden Gate Bidge and illuminate the clouds turning them a deep shade of gold. Ignoring the phone in her hand and the cold sea breeze she outstretched her arms and hugged the oncoming rays, truly feeling like she had just felt God hugging her back.
Smiling she lifted her phone back to her ear and walked away, not even attempt to tell her lover the joy she was feeling just now. The feeling that she now knew she had a place to call home even though it was hundreds of miles away from her birthplace, the placid feeling that one only feels after the storm has passed and hope has arrived in the simplest form possible. The unexpected form.
