Flytrap-Chapter ONE
70 years ago, a handfull of humans left Earth in fear that all life would end. They planned on keeping contact with Earth in case something happened.
And it did.
All communication ceased 10 days ago.
Now the descendants of the passengers of the S.S. Flytrap are searching for a new home.
~
Syoran's eyes flew open.
"Alex? What happened...? I'm... I'm not sure anymore..." he said, half asleep.
He looked around.
Was this... A field? There were no fields on the ship... A forest was about 100 yards to his left.
He must have been put in the Scenarion Tube by some of the guys during his nap. Aztek would certainly hear about this...
Something rustled in the bushes to his left. He grabbed at his side for the tazer, but it was not to be found.
He was without wepons or backup. What had happened? He would have to rely on sheer physical strength if he had to. The rustling continued until a medium sized brown dog ran out and knocked him down.
"AHHHH!! MONSTER!!!!!!! PLEASE SPARE MEEEEEEE!!!!" he screamed.
The dog looked at him; sort of smiling. It backed off.
Syoran stood and raised his hands in defense. What was this thing? It didn't look dangerous... But danger came in all sizes, the scar that ran down his chest was proof of that.
He thought to himself-
If I AM in the Scenarion Tube, then I'm in no danger... But all this certainly feels real. They must have updated the piece of crap...
Syoran looked around again. This was... Earth? He thought he'd been through every battle scenario in the Tube... Everything looked real enough...
The creature barked and shook it's tail. What a vicious beast...
It began barking and would not stop this time.
Syoran was about to turn around and kick the stupid thing, but something caught his feet and brought him to the ground.
He hit the ground and felt himself slowly being pulled by something....
The dog stopped barking and ran over to whatever was pulling him.
He looked at his feet.
A thin vine was wrapping around his feet while slowly pulling him to the forest.
"WHAT...... WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!?!!?!" He yelled
The vine quickly unwrapped itself and wilted.
What had caused that? He followed the wilted vine with his eyes until he saw the creature viciously attacking the vine.
"Did you just... Save me?" He said in disbelief.
The thing just looked at him. Maybe it was friendly... This must have been a gesture of good intention.
"Um... Thanks."
It said nothing.
"Do you speak?"
It barked.
"I guess that's a no.."
There was a road at the edge of the forest, so Syoran stared for it.
"All roads lead somewhere..." he said to himself.
~
Syoran walked for hours until it finally got dark. But this just brought up more problems.
WHERE and HOW was he supposed to sleep in a place like this?
The...Thing... would not stop barking, and at this point, Syoran had become accostomed to it and would think it strange for there to be silence.
It was very dark. Even living on the S.S. Flytrap, Syoran had hated how dark space apeared to be.
He need sleep, although it seemed impossible here.
There was no bed.
No lights.
No warm blankets.
No Leena...
He was alone, and Syoran had never been alone like this.
But he was in dreadful need of sleep, and he knew it.
"Do you know any good spots to rest...?" He said playfully to the creature.
It stopped barking, and this scared Syoran; it had been barking all day.
"What's wrong with you?"
The creature had a look of fear in it's eyes... Like he'd seen something horrifying beyond belief...
crunch!
The hair stood up on the back of Syoran's neck
crunch!
Something was behind him, and he knew it.
He had to face it; face the end if it was necessary. Death would be better than this... purgatory.
He took a deep breath and slowly... very slowly... turned around to face the thing.
It was a tree.
Standing in the middle of the road.
He was sure that it hadn't been there before.
He turned around to address the thing that had been following him all day-
"You silly-"
But it was gone.
"Huh. He's gone.." Syoran was alomost sad that he was completely alone now...
But he had more important matters to attend to-
What was this tree?
Syoran looked at it, his stomach growling for the single delicous looking red apple hanging from a branch.
He hadn't eaten since...
This was the first time in his life he didn't know what day it was. But that didn't stop him from reaching up for the apple.
He grasped for it, but he was just inches short of getting just one finger on it...
That's when the trees branches- faster that he could see in this light- grabbed around his wrist.
"No," He quitely stated, "this is not possible!"
But it was, and he knew it.
He fought as hard as he could, but there was no escaping the tree's grasp. He felt the thinner branches pierce his skin.
It was going to drink his blood.
It's viney branches went deeper and deeper into his arm; soon they would be in his heart and he would be dead.
He was almost happy his sentance in this hell would be over.
crunch!
"Oh God," he thought "not another one..."
He looked over but by now, it was to dark to see... Or his vision was failing. What he saw looked like... A Human.
Death was closing in on Syoran, he felt the branches reach his shoulder, just inches away from his Jugular.
"Hold on!" The Maybe-Human yelled; it was a male.
The heat intensified and he felt the vine-like branches retreat from his arm.
The tree then proceeded to drop him; he fell to the ground with a thud.
The Maybe-Human quickly jogged over to him and was saying something, but Syoran didn't hear it.
He had already passed out.
