Dream Square {Lyrics}

Walk along these golden streets
and follow the trail
of garbage and flesh
Past crumbling buildings
and flashing lights
Over victims of free enterprise
laying at your feet
Screens up above show
what money can buy
But down below
you can only escape
with some cheap drug

Welcome to the heart
of the American Dream
Welcome to the land
of honey and cream
Welcome to Dream Square

This is a place where hope
is created and crushed
a place where minds and bodies
are broken, then dumped
If you've got a few dollars
you can walk by with closed eyes
Just keep your body moving
and keep your mind numb
While the rich drive by in limousines
safe behind walls of mirrored glass
It's the only way to travel
through streets filled with human trash

Because this is the heart
of the American Dream
And this is the land
of honey and cream
This is Dream Square

Everyone is for sale here
and everything has a price
So if you're looking for pleasure
you can just cut off a slice
Or let the smell of decay
fill your head with dreams
Of a mean little life
and how little it means
It's a tiny piece of paradise
in the sewer we call home
It's a last scrap of desperation
in a world that’s going down

This is Dream Square

Oh wow! Beautifully said. I hope this gets a melody to go with it.

Made me think of "Another Day in Paradise."

This is a moving, haunting, desperately sad piece. It is truly exceptional.
