Photograph

You are but a segment
a created moment
smiling through the years
locked inside a frame

stolen in a heart
placed in a mind
hanging on a wall
glancing by a thread.

You are but a figment
a momentary reflection
defining all I once knew
open to interpretation

stored in memory banks
waiting in a line
buying promises of time
dancing while I die…

where long shadows
wait for light.

Sad but true. Really liked it Tony
How about thinking it from the person who is under the frames?
How helpless is he/ she smiling for ages and ages :)

Ah, one of my favorite reads so far... I think everyone can relate to the imagery of a photograph, often so bittersweet. "defining all I once knew" says it so well. I loved this, great work.

Tony--an excellent and thorough description of the capturing of a photographic image and its variety of ultimate meanings. I especially like the section that ends "dancing while I die"--very potent AND poignant! ;-)
