Into The Abyss

Nothing to grasp
churning takes control
lifeless body gives way
to the calling
of an unknown world
swirling away
in search of a place
to surrender thoughts;

Every breath
stolen by choice
bubbling darkness
entombs my body
shackled by
effervescent brine
held as prisoner
of a chosen path
feeling only
one way to abscond...

cruel
thoughts
attacking
this
wretched
mind.

Sorry, it took me some time to get back on this one. You all are great. Thanks for those of you who get it & I'll just quickly say that coming from my point of view, I usually write with a lot of emotion. This one in particular was one of those pieces. Phil, your dead on all the way, perplexity would make sense considering the state of mind I was in. Life doesn't matter when you feel that way. Thank you all for the comments & I hope you continue to read. Bebe :D

Being sucked into a mental vortex? I like this symbol Bebe, churning, spinning, swirling inexorably into an abyss. Abyss of mad, unfathomable thoughts with no solutions in sight. This was frightening. To lose grip on our minds. It was a tough theme. You did it once again. Well done. J

I'm perplexed. I like the feel of this poem but its meaning eludes me. Is it about death, dying, drowning? Or cruel thoughts? Both?

A very good piece Bebe. You describe a body being lost at sea wonderfully. At least it seems you are comparing being lost at sea to being lost in this world. Smooth and fluent.

Quietness means a lot in this poem. It is a feeling, a fact and an act. It is so good that I can't find any words for it. One can read it, feel it and understand it. It is the essence of the universe. Well done. Best wishes.
